Can you even imagine the days when children had to memorize these? I feel like a dunce.

I don't have to imagine them - I went to Catholic school in the 60s and lived them. Most of them were fun to memorize. But the "punishment" assignment was memorizing huge chunks of Longfellow's "Evangeline."

How do I miss these things?
Anyway, snip, snip and here's the corrected version:
https://librivox.org/uploads/kathrinee/juniorclassicsvol10b_176_patten_128kb.mp3 23:08

I had to memorize poetry, but nothing like this.
Diagrammed sentences, too.
Oh, and had my way paid to camp by memorizing four chapters from the Bible.
Good practice for my drama work in university, I guess.
On the road again, so delays are possible

That was fast! Thank you. Spot check PL OK.

I have a high reading retention but verbatim memorization is not a skillet I possess.

Section 40 (0:39) https://librivox.org/uploads/kathrinee/juniorclassicsvol10b_040_patten_128kb.mp3
Section 41 (1:29) https://librivox.org/uploads/kathrinee/juniorclassicsvol10b_041_patten_128kb.mp3
Sectino 42 (1:15) https://librivox.org/uploads/kathrinee/juniorclassicsvol10b_042_patten_128kb.mp3
Thanks!
PS: I think a typo crept into the title line of section 41, I think he is spelled WordswOrth.
PS 2: I loved Wordworth's lines about down time in the last stanza: "For oft, when on my couch I lie / In vacant or in pensive mood, / They flash upon that inward eye / Which is the bliss of solitude.." Ah, delightful!

Thank you for catching the typo. I've fixed it.

These were lovely and all are PL ok. You're forgiven for almost making me cry yesterday. :9:
