the atrocities in King James II's reign are nearly unbearable to listen to :( what a gruesome period of English history. Both sections excellently narrated though, thank you, Colleen. Both PL ok. :) And I hope to hear you again in the next projet :9:

I hadn't heard of the Monmouth rebellion and it was kind of an unwelcome surprise...the casual histories tend to skip from Restoration to the Glorious Revolution and dwell on how remarkably overall peaceful the latter was. Possibly I see now because everyone had a stomachful of violence and bloody reprisals from 3 years earlier. OTOH I had about 8 ideas for possible historical fiction scenarios based on this section and ended up down a research rabbit hole last night trying to find out more about the "Taunton maids" who were sent off to the queen's household to, I guess, work off their fine for the crime of presenting a Bible to the captain of the losing team....

Looking forward to the next one!

yes I also wondered about those maidens and what their fate would be. I had some Game-of-thrones scenarios in my head, what Cersei would have done to them :? I think I wasn't too far off the mark. Did you find out anything ?

No I didn't but I found several books in Internet Archive that may have more info, and possibly a historian of the period I can email to ask for further possible sources to check out. I do think many of the girls, as others of the "guilty" rebels, were ransomed with big fines paid by their families. I had Game of Thrones style ponderings as well. The entire rebellion and aftermath would translate well into a grimdark fantasy scenario similar to how Martin was inspired for GoT by the Wars of the Roses!

sieges are always cruel. A cowardly method to subdue someone. :( And this Rosen guy was really a fanatic sadist. A sad but well-narrated chapter in history. PL ok, thank you, Jim.

and thank you, Jason. What a strangely accurate dream  And nearly every sentence started with "and", a repetitive style we were taught not to use in school

Excellent narration, only one small note to edit, right at the start:

> from 0:37-0:43: three seconds of silence is a bit long after the disclaimer, also you don't have to repeat the title twice, saying it once is enough, then start with the text

thanks

Did you see there are still two free spots in the Macbeth excerpt (Section 53) ? I know you love Shakespeare, so maybe you like to join the cast.
