If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated). Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.

edit: I shortened the file names. They just need to be unique and longer ones lead to errors. I might suggest only saying "makers of history" in the first intro and last outro but it's your decision. If you decide to record the preface I could add a section 0 and then the section and chapter numbers would match (sections/chapters 1-12). Just let me know before you upload anything. Off we go.

I adopted a handful of projects for another volunteer who passed away, though, so I'm a little overextended at the moment. Hopefully somebody will sign on soon.

Checker is giving a warning of high/moderate background noise levels but my ear doesn't hear it. There is a noise reduction feature in Audacity should you be interested.
Great, thanks. The PLer on my last book suggested less noise reduction, that she preferred a bit of hum to too much reduction. I can hear the noise in the background, and I'm unsure what is too much. Should I reduce it some more? I'm happy to do it and re-upload.
Turning it over in your mind will not plough the field.
The noise level for section 1 is about 50dB. I used the checker software to get this number (a link to the free software is below). After one use of the Audacity noise reduction effect (I set noise reduction to 12dB), the noise level was reduced to 35dB. Many who PL will tell you that it should be below 40-45dB. It's your call though because as I said I didn't noticed noise that interfered with my listening to your files. That's why I marked them PL OK.
