File length: 19.4 MiB
Track Length: 21:10.62 (m:ss.ss)

Please let me know if it sounds ok.

Thanks.

Hello. Here are 2 more for this thread.
# 30; the gray collie may have a few issues.
I worked on this file for what seemed like an inordinate amount of time.
It is low with the volume being 80.5. I could not amplify as it just started to sound very wrong. :?
Background sound shows on checker to be 33.9, wrong yet again.
Numbers do not lie so I am at a loss here.

Please do let me know your thoughts here.

I am terribly sorry you have waited so long for PL notes. I try to PL within 24 hours. If this ever happens again please post again.

This was an exciting race. I enjoyed your story very much. Thank you.

PL Notes:
0:20 missing story name prior to author. Should be “The Second String by James B. Connolly.”

The volume is too low at 82.9. Please amplify by 6.

Section 20 is PL OK!

Something I learned while at LV is that forecastle isn’t pronounced as written. None of us without boating experience would ever know. I thought you might also like to know. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/forecastle?src=search-dict-hed

I'll listen to section 30 now. I see the background noise is higher than section 20 but it still falls within our limits. I'll see what I can advise about the volume. In the future please post a 'draft' so you don't have to spend an inordinate amount of time fussing with it. Sometimes a second look is better than getting frustrated.

Hello April,
What do you think of this? https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/juniorclassicsvol9_30_patten_128kb.mp3
Amplified the max amount 6.893, compressed, amplified the max amount 1.469, compressed. Exported.
To me is sounds like the one you submitted. I agree it does have a voice change when compared to section 20.

Are you able to increase your input recording volume? That way you wouldn’t have to amplify so much. Do you usually need to amplify so much? Sometimes when dramatically changing any of the settings in post production can cause a change in the voice.

As for the story...I really enjoyed the part where they had a new kitten but it wasn't broken in yet since it didn't like being carried around in the dog's mouth.

If you agree with the modifications I made then section 30 is PL OK. Let me know.

Thank you for your assist with this. I will definitely bear in mind what you have mentioned with posting a draft as opposed to struggling with the problem for much time. The recording does sound good to me.
How does one increase the input recording volume? I amplify with every recording by +8-8.5
I am always willing to learn something new.

Hello again Linny,
I did just listen to Phil Chenovert on utube with directions for amplifying on Audacity. You see I did learn something new from him, once again. I was using Replay Gain in the incorrect manner. The number shown is what I believed had been adjusted. Than wise me, hardly after all  , amplified an additional +8.0-8.5. There is my problem!! Future recordings will be adjusted so my final volume is at 89.9 by following what Replay Gain shows.

Many thanks for your review!!

And no worries since it was also my first time so I didn't know how long it takes for PL. I will repost in future next time if it's taking longer than usual as you have suggested. :)

Also, I have done the changes which you had recommended so here is the new file uploaded with the title correctly added at 0:20 sec and volume amplified by 6 DB. Hope this sounds better now. Let me know what you think.

I love Phil's videos. I use them and refer others to him all the time. I'm glad you got it all sorted out. :9:

I would like to do section 32 -- Cressy’s New-Year’s Rent -- I'm waiting on my 1 minute test approval, but then I'm very eager to do it! I love this little story!

Welcome to LV! Thank you for claiming a section on this project. In order to get you set up I'll need to know what name you would like to have appear in the catalog.
