El Filibusterismo (The Reign of Greed) by José Rizal (1861 - 1896). Translated by Charles Derbyshire ( - )

This project is now complete! All files can be downloaded from the catalog page:
https://librivox.org/el-filibusterismo-by-jose-rizal/

This is the sequel to the book "Noli me Tangere". Both decry the cruelty of the Spanish clergy on the Philippines. Both books were cited as the reason why Jose Rizal was executed. <br> something siginificantly better to come. I hope... ( Availle)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/10676
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Okay, the Magic Window has arrived, I hope it will be joined by a DPL soon

As mentioned above, this is the sequel to "Noli me Tangere" (but thankfully only about half the length), and we'll meet a range of the old characters there, after quite some time has passed. I will discover the novel myself as well, it's the first time I'm doing a request, actually...

I will probably start in a few days with this.

Hey all, it's been a long time since I've been active here but since all my classes were moved online, I have a lot of free time to spend on the LV forums! I can PL sections 0 and 1 if that works.
I try to avoid voice cracks in my recordings.
To PLers- please correct sloppy pronunciation or weird slurring :/

Section 0 is PL OK
Section 1 is PL OK as well, but I did notice that at 27:54 I head "Doña Victoria" when the text reads "Doña Victorina".

Thank you for stepping in - and welcome back Walnut! :D

However, as you know, we're operating on a "first claim, first...PL" kind of basis on LV. So I'd like to give chapga a chance to learn how to PL. I hope that's okay with you!

So, yes, chapga - thanks for claiming, and if you still want the DPL job, it is yours!
Best to start with a quick read - our Guide for new proof-listeners is here, with a little quiz at the end:
https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Guide_for_Proof-listeners

This project is "standard", so what I"m looking for is mainly repeats and other things where you say "huh??" The mistake pointed out by Walnut "Victoria / Victorina" is something of the latter, to give you an example.

Just let me know if you're up for PLing here - oh, and welcome to LV too! :D
Cheers, Ava.

I have uploaded a few more chapters. :D

Since chapga has not been online since posting above, I will advertise for a DPL again.

Hi there and welcome to this project!

You are very welcome to DPL this one!
As mentioned above, this is a "standard" project, and the link I gave above gives you the details.

Let me know if you have questions - and have fun! :D

I'll enter you into the DB tomorrow, it's getting late here...

Hi Theoden, you're still around? You can start PLing at any time.

I have uploaded a few more sections and fixed the mistake in chapter 1.

Hi everyone,
if cewalalang or Theoden isn't DPLing, I'm interested in PLing a few sections too (if yes, I'm sorry, my misunderstanding :D). Please let me know if I can claim a few of them to PL :)

Thanks,
Kudrna

Thank you all for your interest! I guess I can take the ad down now.

We're working here on a "first claim - first PL" basis, so I would like to honour Theoden's request. He has been last online a few days back, and since we allow our members to have a life outside of LV, I'll give him a few days to come back and settle in.

But again, thanks for your interest! :D
