The Turn of the Screw by Henry James (1843 - 1916).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-turn-of-the-screw-version-3-by-henry-james/

Later ( Sandra Cullum)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/209
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

OK, your MW is ready for you. I decided that I should not be completely selfish by grabbing the DPL spot as well, even though I am dying to do it! If no one else comes along, then I will do it. :D

Hi Ann:

I was so hoping you would pick this one up! Thank you. You can be dpl for this as well as far as I am concerned.
Can't wait to get started.

Whenever you want to post a solo project, and would like for me to MC it, just send me a PM. I have a few people that do that, and I would be happy to do that for you as well!

I think I will move us over to Going Solo, and I will go ahead and be greedy! I will DPL!

Hi Ann:

Before you have a listen, I have a question. I have been saying at the beginning Section 1 Prologue and at the end End of Prologue, subsequently Section 2 Chapter 1, and at the end: End of Section 2. am I correct? At least hopefully I have been consistent.

Thanks

Actually, since you have a prologue, that should be section 0, then chapter 1 can be section 1. It is an easy fix to make right now for the files, I can just change the numbers. But, for the recordings, chapter 1 should be "End of chapter 1." If you want to go back and change it, that is fine with me since I have not listened to it yet. Let me know what you would like to do, I will wait to make any changes from my end.

Hi Ann:

I have amended the chapters in the MW to read 00 and 01 accordingly. I added another section which I realize is a mistake, could you get rid of it please. The section numbers can now be changed, I have changed Chapter 1 to read Chapter 1 beginning and end. Easier to do now than later!!

Thanks Ann

Hi:

Again!! Sorry.

I have a thread of books worked on or am working on, such as Six women and the Invasion and the Wyvern Mystery which I read a few chapter of, when I put my name in the search box all the books show up there, even thank you notes, this book The Turn of the Screw does not. I have to go to Solo reads then scroll down til I find it, is there an easier way, is there something I should have done? Can you help?

Thank you and have a great day.

A much easier way is to bookmark the thread. In the first post, on the left hand side, is a button that has a wrench. Click that button, and in the drop down menu, click on Add Bookmark. Then, each time you come to the forum, there will be a number beside the Notifications on the right side. Click of that and all the responses in those bookmarked threads will show up for you.

Section 1 needs to have "Chapter 1," added at about the :07 mark.

Section 2, at 9:55, the last line is cut off.
