Hey Jewel, welcome aboard! I see you're newly registered. Have you done your 1-minute test yet? 8-)

(If an admin is reading this, could you please add jewelgreenberg to the reader's list? thanks!)

You can do this. It doesn't require an admin.
Adding a new reader to the dropdown list
If your reader is new to LibriVox and is not in the dropdown, you will need to add them to the reader list before you can assign them a section to read.

Click the "Add new reader" button. A popup window will appear.
Enter the reader's forum username and catalog (display) name and a website if one has been provided.
Click Add Reader to add the new reader to the system.
NOTE: If you get an error message that the email can't be found, contact your MC for help.
Once this is done, you can then assign sections to this reader.

Oh yes, thanks for the reminder! I do still need to know if she's passed the one-minute test, though. 8-)

Greetings,

I'd like to read section 12, Useful Knots and How to Tie Them.

Before I start reading. . . what are we doing about figures? I was tempted to read
Begin the square knot with the single first tie (Fig. 49).
as
Begin the square knot with the single first tie.

But, in other places the figure reference is more part of the sentence, such as
Draw the square knot tight and it looks like Fig. 52.
which I guess should be read
Draw the square knot tight and it looks like figure 52.

so . . . thoughts?

Hi, Jennifer -- Great! I've put you in the MW for section 12.

As for the figures, yes, just read them out "as is". The example you gave is perfect.

Thanks! 8-)
