thank you, perfectly corrected and yes, the fluctuations in the volume are less now. What did you do if I may ask ?Bloater51 wrote: ↑January 18th, 2020, 12:31 pmCorrected as requested https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/worldstory_volume10_028_tappan_128kb.mp3
Duration 4:52
I have also played around a bit with Audacity and hope I have made things better rather than worse. Changing my reading style will take some effort, but there may be technical solutions to help somewhat.
It's PL ok now. Congrats on your first official OK section.

Section 53 - The Thane
https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/worldstory_volume10_053_macbeth_128kb.mp3
The speech beginning "Is this a dagger.." I had to memorise when I was at school. Doing it again after so long was wonderfully nostalgic.

sorry for the delay, but the weekend was quite busy. I checked your section now and it was really very interesting to see these historical figures in a fictional scene.neecheelok70 wrote: ↑January 18th, 2020, 9:58 amHere is Section 22--interesting argument! Jim

The time is now 24:56.
I only found a small omission which needs to get reinserted:
> at 18:19: (p. 111) missed part of sentence: "hic est Sigeia tellus" – only then start with the footnote. Also you forgot to say "end of footnote" after "Here is the Sigeian country"
thank you, Jim

I see you were impatient to start. Sorry for being in bed while you claimed.KevinS wrote: ↑January 18th, 2020, 3:44 pmSection 48, please.

This section is perfectly PL ok, thank you so much Kevin. Gladstone seems to have been a good and interesting man.

ah yes, we had Macbeth in our final highschool exams as well. I don't think I understood as much there as I did nowalanmapstone wrote: ↑January 19th, 2020, 12:00 pmSection 53 - The Thane

A great perfomance again Alan. In some parts you sound positively evil but of course in the end he is more hesitant that his good dear lady.
I have a found a few missed lines though:
> at 3:36: (p. 240) missed part: "chance may crown me, without my stir"
> at about 5:00: (p. 243) 4 missing lines: "The rest is labour... [etc] ...so humbly take my leave"
thanks !

I had noticed this omission after I had entered the file on the thread and substituted the correct version afterwards--I posted a message to you that I had done this. But I suspect you had already downloaded the original. I think this because when I went to check on the file saved on my computer that I substituted it had the missing line and end of footnote there. Completely my fault! In any case, I am re-sending it.

and thank you for those two excellent sections. I knew the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie and Flora Macdonald already, but the details are interesting. And your Scottish pronunciations of the names sound quite cool. Loved to listen to it.Jmbau13 wrote: ↑January 20th, 2020, 10:10 pmHere is https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/worldstory_volume10_79_tappan_128kb.mp3 17m 31 s

I have a few notes to correct though:
for section 79:
> from 11:40-11:42: (p. 394) between "get some supper" and "Mrs Macdonald": the pause feels too long, I would cut down at least a second here
> at 11:50: (p. 394) repetition: "was striding up and down the hall in a manner terrifying to behold" – one version can be cut
> from 16:48-16:51: (p. 396) between "he sailed from Skye" and "Flora Macdonald was arrested": the long pause could be cropped significantly here as well. Also you can cut out "note from the editor", simply say "the editor" at the end (at 17:14), like it is written in the book. No need to change the text as such
> could you also change the filename to 3 digits please: 079 instead of 79, because we have over 100 sections this time
for section 80:
> for the intro, I wanted the short intro for all sections under 3 pages long (as noted in the MW), so here please only say "Section 80 of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales, read for LibriVox.org by Jane Bennett. Ireland Part I: The golden age of Erin: Historical note"
> at 3:37: after "end of section 80", you have to say the rest of the disclaimer "this recording is in the public domain", especially because it hasn't been stated in the short intro at the beginning
> also here: please change the filename to 080 instead of 80
thank you

Thanks, Sonia. Yes, I should not have submitted the file in the first place before the final check. And will not do in future! I shouldn't have mentioned it at all. Forgive. Jim
