Cyrus the Great by Jacob Abbott (1803 - 1879).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/cyrus-the-great-by-jacob-abbott/
This history is the story of Cyrus, the founder of the Persian Empire, sixth century BC. ( Deon Gines)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/30707
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I would like to learn about this figure. I can DPL if you're not looking for all of the chapters to be proof-listened this week.

Hi, Deon,

Ch. 1 is Checker passed and PL OK

So, hey - purely out of curiosity: What made Cyrus the Great catch your eye to do?
I can't help being interested in Persian "things," as my father's job took us to Teheran when I was a child (before their revolution).

Thanks for the PL. Wow, sounds like an awesome place to visit.

I helped record a Jacob Abbott work about Genghis Kahn and found that I like Abbott's real historian training with his very readable writing. He has a series of great character histories and I'd like to add a few more to the Librivox catalog.

Snowing here in SLC--how about Colorado? :)

No snow here - We have had a very, VERY dry week. Hopefully some of that will come over the mountains and come to us! :)
