I'm in Australia where copyright extends to 70 years after author's death..does this still apply in compilations of this kind?

Great question. I haven't had too much experience with this, but I'm sure Tricia has. My guess would be that maybe it would be ok to record sections that fit these rules, since there are multiple authors. I'm not quite sure how that works with looking at the book though... well, I'm sure Tricia will know.

I think you are fine recording any author in this collection that is PD for you. If you are in doubt, then don't - but I can't see it being a problem to stick with Life+70 authors in this case. :)

P.S. Australia is Life+50 to death date of 1955/1956 (can't remember which), at which time it jumps to Life+70. So anyone who died before, say, 1955 is PD for Australians.
