I saw on All Creatures that "lurcher" doesn't refer to some kind of gait, but to a thief. So, these lurcher dogs are sort of canine pack rats. ha That would be a good Sherlock Holmes story base.

They are also known as "sight hounds" as they have excellent eyesight and can spot prey a long way away. They are basically hunters and my bitch called Bonnie will chase anything from a mouse to a large deer. These days she doesn't do much of that as she is about 12 years old, but still chases the odd squirrel in the park. Some Lurchers are thieves but Bonnie is not too bothered about food (unlike Labradors) as long as she gets one good meal a day. She is very quiet about the house and never barks, although she makes plenty of grunting noises which fortunately do not get recorded unless I'm reading in the same room, which is rare. I used to make videos in the same room with her and often her grunts would be heard so I always included a shot of her so people didn't think the grunts came from me!cherylstewart wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2020, 12:31 pm Section 9 "The Oval Portrait" PL OK
