I just uploaded section 17. You warned me to do a test file, and I didn't, so don't feel any regret in telling me to redo it if there's something wrong. I was just itching to record something, so I did it ahead of time :)

Christy,
Section 17 is PL OK. Since you skipped the test recording I've included some comments for you to consider for future recordings.

Keep an eye on your opening silence. We want less than 1 second.

Between 4:30 and 7:30 you get louder than the rest of the recording. It’s very typical when doing voices or reading an excited part. Try to get a little bit away from the microphone at times like this. It will still give the intent but won’t change the volume. When I record just moving the weight to my heals is enough of a move away.

Are you using Audacity? If so, go to View>Show clipping. The red lines indicate ‘clipping’. This is when your voice range exceeds the recording range. Too much clipping and your voice will become distorted.

Here is a video on the compressor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ3lOTDsN6c It won’t be your version of Audacity but still should be helpful.

Let me know if you would like to claim additional section(s) for this project. If not, I hope you enjoy your time here. You're off to a great start! I'll see you in the forums. :D

Hello Cori,
Welcome to LV. Please be sure to complete your test recording prior to recording for the project. It's much easier to fix problems on a 1 minute recording than after the effort of a longer recording. https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Newbie_Guide_to_Recording

Here is your catalog page. https://librivox.org/reader/13812 The Reader section details link is a great way to keep track of your claims.

Hi,

I would like to claim the Section no 18 - In the Oven By Richard W. Child. Kindly assign it to my name.

This is my first time recording on librivox sp please let me know when can I start recording. Do I need to wait until it's assigned to me on the website?

Thanks!

Yes, you do need to wait until Linny assigns it to you in the Magic Window which is the grid structure on the 1st page.
