Just to let you know that I ordered a new mic from Amazon which I was hoping to record with now over the holidays while I am off work. It was supposed to be delivered to me yesterday and when I queried it was told today that it will only be delivered in 9 day's time which is a bit of a bummer.

Anyhow just wanted to let you know that's why I have not uploaded my latest recording.

Hi there & compliments of the Season to you all.

I have purchased a new mic, and experiencing problems with Audacity recognising it. Well, actually, Audacity does "recognise" it, (viewable in the dropdown box within Audacity), but when I record, it just flatlines. I've tried just about everything and don't know what to do and wondered if you had any advice for me please.

I have a fairly new HP laptop, and am on Windows 10, and latest version of Audacity 2.3.2. The mic is a brand new USB Audio Technica Cardioid Dynamic Microphone (model ATR1200) ordered from Amazon (with a UGreen sound adaptor). I'm using a new Amplify Bluetooth paired series headphone (great sound when listening to music). I have changed the default settings in control panel by selecting the USB mic (recording) and the Bluetooth headphones (playback). I have also changed the settings in Audacity, under Edit, Preferences, Devices, to cater for the headphones and mic, and the Interface Host setting is Windows Direct Sound.

I have disabled the Realtek High Definition Audio mic (control panel, hardware and sound, sound, manage audio devices, recording), as it was causing issues.

I was previously able to record without any problems at all, using a Plantronics headset microphone. I just felt that the Plantronics headset mic was quite sensitive and it was causing the plosives and "breathiness", hence the decision to go with a "proper" microphone. I'm hoping this is just a simple solution and would value your suggestions and input please to help me resolve this issue.

The weird thing is that yesterday I was actually able to record, and I now can't remember what settings I had, but the output quality was terrible - it sounded like I was in a tunnel, and a sort of water swooshing noise in the background, and just all in all awful. Now I can't record at all - not sure which is worse LOL

PS, re the new ATR-1200 Mic..... until it's settings have been resolved, I am continuing with my Plantronics mic, and will do so I think for the entire Emily book, all sections, for continuity. I've recorded Chapter 7 as well over the weekend, just busy finishing some small adjustments. Chapter 8 is ready to go, but will only upload it after I've uploaded Chapter 7, so that they are in sequence.

I hope you won't be too disappointed but I decided to continue with recordings for Emily using the same mic, the Plantronics. I am waiting for the local Audio Technica technical support to get back to me as I'm struggling with the settings. I'm glad to hear that you use the same one.

I've recorded section 12 and will check and edit it today or tomorrow.
