I like this idea!

I've got an idea that might work in this genre -- if it's old enough.

Maybe I'll be the first entrant.

My entry will be "The Invalid's Story" by Mark Twain
A boy on a train lapses into a long dream.

http://www.gutenberg.org/files/60900/60900-h/60900-h.htm
2,730 Words
22 Minutes

Does that seem suitable?

Sure does, Mr. Bill. 1892 is your copyright date. Better get crackin or I'll beat you to first. I'm working on something right now, which is what got me fired up on the genre to begin with. :D And I do have some strange dreams. Flying, running, falling, vacationing in the same campground, attending this weird seminar in a vacated mine shaft. Plenty of material for my own short stories. I always wanted to write them down . . . but never have. :(

I look forward to your story.

Hi Michele,
I'll MC this for you. The MW is up. I love the subject of dreams. This should be good!
In green at the top of the post it says "no poems please."
Cheers!

It's been a while since I submitted anything and I hope this is correct.

I transferred My Platonic Sweetheart from Love Stories 2. It has already been PL OK'd over there, but fits better here.

Hi Michele!

What a great theme for this collection!

Here are my three.....

https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dreamscollection1_adream_jackson_nr_128kb.mp3 02:14
A Dream
Helen Hunt Jackson (1830-1885)
http://www.theotherpages.org/poems/hhj01.html#2

https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dreamscollection1_dreamers_sasoon_nr_128kb.mp3 01:31
Dreamers
Seigfried Sassoon (1886-1967)
http://www.theotherpages.org/poems/sass01.html#1

https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dreamscollection1_dreamsarebest_service_nr_128kb.mp3 02:41
Dreams Are Best
Robert W. Service (1874-1958)
http://www.theotherpages.org/poems/service3.html#dreams

Just a note, that I found a typo in the Jackson poem ... the 1st line in the 5th stanza reads in the text like this: "No moew in heaven than earth will he find God ....I looked at other versions and found that it is supposed to be "more", not "moew".

Thanks!
Nemo

Here is my story:
Miss Cubbidge and the Dragon Of Romance
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/dreamcollection1_misscubbidge_dunsany_mtf.mp3 9:07
Lord Dunsany
Text: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/7477/7477-h/7477-h.htm

As I interpret it, this young gal is sitting on a balcony looking at the twinkling night lights of London, and slips into a trance filled with dragons and jewels and ships and stuff. I could be wrong, it could be a true story!

Nemo, could you PL this for me?

Hi Michele!

What a wonderful story and a beautiful reading of it .. thank you!

It is perfectly PL OK :9:

And for what it's worth, I do think it's a true story and that maybe we are just part of the Dragon's dreaming!

Thanks, Nemo, I have another story coming soon. If you have time to do the honors, be on the lookout. No doubt that it's a dream, which turns into a nightmare!
