Hi:

This is my recording. I think someone else had done it before, but pretty long ago.

Hi Joon,
Congratulations on your first recording! I proof listened. It has some technical issues that you need to fix.
1. Reduce the opening silence to 1 second.
2. Change the bitrate to 128kb.
3. Change it to a constant bit rate.
4. Amplify it by 8db.
If you have any questions, let me know.
Thanks!
Amy

I'm starting work on Genesis, by H. Beam Piper. Text here http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/18105/pg18105.txt

I'm about 5 minutes in so far but figured since I'm gonna take an extended break here I may as well claim the story up here.

Hi,
There is no need to pre-claim. If anyone submits this story before you, yours will go in the next collection. Multiple versions are welcome.
Cheers,
Amy

How do we read off chapter breaks in short stories? Just
"...and that was how this chapter ends

Chapter 2

This new chapter is way cool..."

There is no chapter title, I hadn't expected chapter breaks in a short story.

Hi,
You can just say "2" or you say Part 2.
I look forward to listening.
Have a good day!

It's taking longer than I expected. I've got to find a balance between perfectionist and shoddy, stutters and mis-speaks should always be repaired right? I am still fighting the urge to silence my breaths and adjust my pauses between phrases.

Yes, only stumbles, repeats, mis-speaks, and noises need to be edited out. Keep in your breaths and pauses so it sounds natural. If someone wants to listen to an automated recording, there are other options. Have fun with it, Fractal.
