Cora Parkhurst is simply too busy to get to know the girls in her Sunday school class or to spend much time preparing lessons. Robert Hammond, on the other hand, is absolutely dedicated to the boys in his class, addressing their concerns in his Sunday sessions and helping them all week long. Concerned for Cora and her class, he invites her to a teachers' meeting, hoping to spark her enthusiasm for teaching. But what begins innocently enough gets complicated when Cora's fiance becomes jealous. . . . (cribbed off Goodreads - to be modified later)
Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): special
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated). Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!
The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording! START of recording (Intro):
"Chapter [number] of Cunning Workmen. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
Say: "Cunning Workmen, by Pansy. [Chapter]"
For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
"Chapter [number] of Cunning Workmen by Pansy. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
Only if applicable, say: "[Chapter title]"
END of recording:
At the end of the section, say: "End of [Chapter]"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
At the end of the book, say (in addition): "End of Cunning Workmen, by Pansy. "
There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.
Example filename cunningworkmen_##_pansy_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. cunningworkmen_01_pansy_128kb.mp3)
Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
At this point, you'll probably need to listen to chapter 1 again to get any idea what's going on - although it's introducing another character and doesn't have much to do with chapter 1.
Yep, when we have breaks between chapters I tend to listen to the previous one to see "now what is this book about?" Especially if I've gone through more then one by other means.
Do you manage to keep up with all the names in a book and who they are? Sometimes I want to take notes in the beginning of a book because I can't really flip back to check.
Sometimes I can keep up - it's harder when I take over a month between recording chapters 1 and 2.
I am attempting to help get some nearly-done projects over the finish line before the end of the year, so I'm not sure if I'll proceed with this very quickly.
