Multilingual Short Works Collection 023 - Poetry & Prose by Various ( - ).
This is a collection of short pieces, poetry or prose, fiction and non-fiction, in several different languages (except standard English) as listed below. All chosen and recorded by Librivox volunteers. ( ToddHW)
This collection is for short works, in any language except (modern) English. This can include poetry but also prose, fiction as well as non-fiction.
Feel free to choose any work which is in the public domain. If you're unsure what we mean by 'public domain', please read this explanation. Try to stick to works that run less than 60 minutes.
Please follow the instructions in this post carefully. There is no need to "sign-up" before recording; please remember that you should choose a work that is Public Domain in your country AND that was published before 1924; if you are unsure about anything, please post here and ask before recording!
Everyone can contribute as many recordings as he/she wants.
It's OK to submit readings in English (English being a language, I figure), but as there are plenty of other places to put those, let's limit them to special cases such as interesting regional dialects or accents.
If you are interested to see what has been done previously, check the previous Multilingual Collections in our catalog (but we welcome multiple versions of the same work).

Need noise-cleaning?
Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The latest version of Audacity is recommended for noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.
Save as mp3 file
File name all in lowercase: msw023_[work's title]_[author's last name]_[your initials]_128kb.mp3

absolutely cool, Shashank Only we need to be very careful with the source text you are reading from. For LV it has to be absolutely public domain in the US. That usually means, the book needs to be published before 1923 and we need to see a cover page where it says so. That is often the problem with texts we want to read. A good source to look for is Gutenberg or archive.org, because they show the original scans. So before you record, please post back the link of your source here, so we can check that it's a valid one. Wouldn't want you to do all the recording for nothing

Good luck with source-hunting.

Now that you mentioned it, I am afraid Eidgah was published in '36.
But I have another one, titled - Bade Bhai Sahab ( which means The Elder Brother) that was published in 1910. (Mentioned on the Wikipedia - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premchand)

yes this is promising. But a quote on wikipedia unfortunately is not enough. We need to have the source text from 1910 then (preferably as scan). It is not enough that you now read from the 12th edition released in 1990 for example. Those books have a new copyright then, they might have been edited, etc.
So maybe that's the way you will find something useful. You could search for a specific author and check whether they have one of the old books. As I said, we need to see the first page where the publishing date is clearly mentioned as before 1923.

Sandra will be checking in one of these days to PL it again for me.
I just listened to the poem. Wonderfully read, it warmed my heart on this cold winter day. Just one PL note: at second 15, you said "grousse" instead of "groe". The field is grey, not big, so you might want to change that. Other than that, really nice!

There is no record and I highly doubt there will be one. These shorts were published in a magazine and I doubt there is an archive of it anywhere.

yes I know, it is difficult to find scans. If it was in an old magazine, it's worth checking local libraries, they may have all the old magazines in stock if they were famous ones. You could ask them to scan one for you and you can put it up on archive yourself.
But don't give up. There are thousands of Indian books on archive, there is bound to be a few that you would like to read from, maybe some poetry.
