Trifles by John Charles McNeill (1874 - 1907).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/trifles-by-john-charles-mcneill/
Many years before the position was established, poet and journalist John Charles McNeill was unofficially called North Carolina's Poet Laureate and while official permission from the legislature to name a poet laureate came in 1935, no one was actually appointed to the position until 1948. ( Wikipedia)
Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!
This week's poem can be found here.

Set your recording software to:
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44100 kHz

Have questions on "how"?
Check LV's Recording Notes thread before recording. If this is your first recording, you'll also find this Newbie Guide to Recording useful.
Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Trifles by John Charles McNeill, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:
What shall I bring you, sweet?
A posy prankt with every April hue:
The cloud-white daisy, violet sky-blue,
Shot with the primrose sunshine through and through?

Or shall I bring you, sweet,
Some ancient rhyme of lovers sore beset,
Whose joy is dead, whose sadness lingers yet,
That you may read, and sigh, and soon forget?

What shall I bring you, sweet?
Was ever trifle yet so held amiss
As not to fill love's waiting heart with bliss,
And merit dalliance at a long, long kiss?

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: trifles_mcneill_your initials in lowercase_128kb.mp3
(e.g. rifles_mcneill_klh_128kb.mp3 )

ID3 tags (Version 2.30): ID Tags are completed during Cataloging

*Readers, please check back in a day or so for any feedback regarding your reading.

*Best to copy/paste the link provided in the LV Uploader, inserting your initials of course.

I'm thinking about recording Trifles. But, you already have nine submissions with room for eleven more. Same poem. So, after you have your twenty, what do you do next? Pick the best? Publish it as a completed project with all twenty, LV readers selecting their favorite reader? No criticism just can't discern here the goal. Very curious. Thanks

HI tomewing, the main goal is "choice of voice", a collection of different reading styles and interpretations of the Weekly Poem are most often quite interesting.
Hope to hear you soon. :D
