Glimpses of Unfamiliar Japan: First Series by Lafcadio Hearn (1850 - 1904).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/glimpses-of-unfamiliar-japan-first-series-by-lafcadio-hearn/
Glimpses of Unfamiliar Japan is a collection of essays by Lafcadio Hearn detailing his first impressions of the country he found so fascinating he decided to stay there for the rest of his life. In these essays and recollections he expresses his curiosity, bewilderment, and marvel at Japanese tradition, culture and lifestyle. Lafcadio Hearn is best known as the most notable person to introduce Japan to the West. He produced about thirty works, including translations, retellings of folktales, and travelogues. ( mlcui)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/8130
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Hi! I will be your MC and will set up the MW in a few minutes!

EDIT: MW is up. I shortened your proposed file name a little.
Do you perhaps have a DPL in mind already? I did put a ~ sign before the project title to advertise for a DPL for now.
Keep your mind here and now, where it belongs.

I'm very interested in both Japan and Hearn, so I would be happy to be the DPL for this project!

Section 1, duration 25:16

Chapter one is really lengthy. I have decided to split it into two sections.

I listened to the first part of Chapter 1. Beautifully read!

The only thing to change is the intro and outro. It should be Chapter 1, (name of chapter), Part 1 at the beginning, where you say the name of the chapter. At the end, instead of "to be continued", just do "End of Chapter 1, part 1)

Then the next will be Chapter 1, part 2/"end of chapter 1, part 2" and so on. Do you think the other chapters will be subdivided as well?

Hello there! I'm so sorry for the lack of progress, Life has been getting in the way. And just as I thought I'd have time to work on recording, I caught a cold. My voice is so nasal right now. Please let me have time to get over this bug, then I am back in the game.
