The Rainbow and the Rose by E. Nesbit (1858 - 1924).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-rainbow-and-the-rose-by-e-nesbit-2/
Although Edith Nesbit is best known for her innovative children's books and classic ghost stories, she was at heart a poet. She began writing poetry at the age of 14 and published over 20 volumes of poetry during her lifetime. Her poetry was praised by authors and poets such as Algernon Swinburne, Oscar Wilde, and literary critic, Andrew Lang. Although her timeless poetry is little read today, she still ranks at 323 of the top 500 poets.
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/4513
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

So, all is set up. :)
The summary will have to be changed though, as this one is from 2012 and clearly not Public Domain. The most usual way is for the reader write a short summary themselves about the book. It can be done after the recording, when you are through it and really familiar with it. Just a few sentences, it does not have to be a formal or long one.

Hi Lomond!

Here is Chapter 2:
https://librivox.org/uploads/kikisaulite/rainbowandtherose_02_nesbit_128kb.mp3. 13:19.24

By the way, I am sure you noticed that Insect Adventures made the Staff Pick List this year. I loved working on that book.

Thank you for your assistance!

Greetings -

Got caught up in the Season here. :? :)

Here is just one note for Chapter 2:

TIME: 10:15 TEXT: "And make the desert blossom like the rose;" READING: The word "bloom" is read in place of "blossom".

Other than that, definitely PL OK.

I will be away for a week visiting my family. All my sister asks of me for Christmas is to visit her.

See everyone next year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Lomond

P.S. And, yes, Insect Adventures was a very enjoyable listen.
