Anthem by Ayn Rand (1905 - 1982).

This project can now be found in our catalog at https://librivox.org/anthem-version-5-by-ayn-rand/

Volunteers outside the USA: Ayn Rand died in 1982. Her work is still protected by copyright in places, like Europe, where copyright is author's death plus 70 years, Australia (author's death plus 70 years for authors who died after 1954) or Canada (author's death plus 50 years).
Anthem is a dystopian fiction novella by Russian-American writer Ayn Rand, written in 1937 and first published in 1938 in the United Kingdom. The story takes place at an unspecified future date when mankind has entered another Dark Age. Technological advancement is now carefully planned and the concept of individuality has been eliminated. A young man known as Equality 7-2521 rebels by doing secret scientific research. When his activity is discovered, he flees into the wilderness with the girl he loves. Together they plan to establish a new society based on rediscovered individualism. ( Wikipedia)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/1249
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Welcome to Librivox.
While you are waiting for an MC can I suggest that you post a 1 minute test as per instructions in your welcome email or in the wiki link at the top of the page - it's not an audition, it's a way for making sure your recordings can be used in the catalogue.

Just check the text link - PG explains. And the first recording in our catalogue is dated 2007-04-30 so at least since 2007 :D

Please pardon the Newbie question. I went to upload a 1 minute test, but do I not need an MC before I can upload it?

Never mind, I see that I should upload the test file using the test-test in the MC box.

Yep. I will open this project for you as soon as you do your second little test with a bit more volume. Your voice is great and will do a good job on this story.

I see you have the OK to record. Great. Your forum name is pbkuhn. What would you like your catalog name to be? A lot of us use our real names but it is up to you.

As soloist you are responsible for the Magic Window . Here is a video on how to get into it for the first time and how to upkeepit. at least I think this is what it is about https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cDPSmlTjGM&t=99s. as always, let me know if you need any help.

EDIT: it has been awhile since I made this. I would appreciate feedback from you as to whether it is still accurate and the steps actually work. If it doesn't please let me know so I can make a new one. thanks for making LibriVox even better for new volunteers.

Your forum name is pbkuhn (yeah I did transpose). Your catalog name is the name that is searchable in our catalog and this is the name that can be the same as your forum name pbkuhn, or another. |That is what I meant. Right now both are set to pbkuhn but your catalog name can be changed.

Thank you! The soloist of course makes this decision but I will accept your kind offer assuming they will approve.
