Crazy idea 4435 - Telephoning into a Website recording application
Is there by chance, a Web site that allows one to call some number in order to make a recording that can then be downloaded, making the recording available for upload and editing?
Does that make sense?

Maybe a telephone recording doesn't have the fidelity we would need?

Most telephone recordings I hear are of bad quality - so if something like this were available, I wouldn't recommend it for recording LV.

You're probably right for cellphones, but some---dinosaurs---have 'regular' phones which just might give good fidelity.
If we could post photos, I'd show you my rotary dial phone!

Actually, I was thinking of old land-lines when I posted that.

I'm going to do research. Not that I would recommend such a procedure.

Well, it's possible, but it's creepy and I'm not going to pursue it further.

So someone would call a number, be connected to a recording site, start speaking and when finished the file would be saved with a specific name and could then be retrieved via internet for editing? Is this what you are thinking of? If so it sounds very possible, but what would be the benefit here?
It's more a thought problem, but it would be handy for those who do not have working microphones or no functioning link to record on Audacity. At the present time, last I knew, those who upgraded to the new Mac operating system can't record with Audacity. It just got me thinking.philchenevert wrote: ↑November 6th, 2019, 4:33 pm So someone would call a number, be connected to a recording site, start speaking and when finished the file would be saved with a specific name and could then be retrieved via internet for editing? Well, why not? It is definitely possible but the quality would need to be checked out of course. If we can call a number these days and order a Whataburger with large onion rings delivered to our door, why not this?

The problem I see is, how does one edit?

One would need to use Audacity or another application to edit, of course. Again, it's only a thought problem, but I can imagine a few uses for such a thing.

The webinar program ZOOM can record the webinar call, and generates an MP4(video) and m4a(audio only) file, for download. The recorded audio will only be as good as the input device. My recorded web-calls are much different when using a phone or laptop mic, as opposed to my EV RE20 and recording system.
