And one more, which I hope will also find your approval:
Author: Sadi (1210-1291)
Title: Story of a Cheat
URL to text: http://www.gutenberg.org/files/60471/60471-h/60471-h.htm#Page_117
Audio recording ready for PL'ing: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/ss083_storyofacheat_cjph_128kb.mp3
Time: 01:08
Even though the original author died centuries ago, do we go by the translator's death? In that case, when did A. Hart Edwards die? On the same note, is the copyright status of this work okay in the UK?
I'm really sorry for all this confusion, but just want to be safe from any legal issues regarding copyright law.
Many thanks,
Chad

Yes, we use the death of the translator. Please be sure to do your research.

Unfortunately, I used Google search engine, but can't seem to find the date of birth and death for this translator.
Kind regards,

As you do not give the name of the translator, I cannot check. Also, it is your responsibility to make sure it is PD.

I hope it's OK if I step in...

Chad:

A Hart Edwards is in our catalogue already, with no birth/death dates. I'm guessing they cannot be found.

I highly recommend, Chad, that you only submit works in which YOU can easily find the death date of the author and translator (if applicable). This constant asking the MC to research for you has got to stop. It's not her job. If you cannot find the information you need to determine that a work is PD for you and for us, then please do not record and post it, period.

Write this list down and post it somewhere you can see it:
For me to record a work for LibriVox, it must be:
1. Published 96+ years ago (1923 or earlier today; 1924 or earlier in January 2020), OR
Full View on HathiTrust, OR
Available on Gutenberg.org with the "bibrec" tab saying it's PD in the USA
AND...
2. The author and translator died more than 70 years ago (1948 or earlier today; 1949 or earlier in January 2020)

If I cannot find the death date of an author or translator, I will not record the piece.
One suggestion for you is that you post your questions about author/translator death dates (BEFORE recording the section) in the NEED HELP? forum rather than in a project thread. That way people who like to research can help in the search rather than putting the burden on the MC.
School fiction: David Blaize
Exploration: The First Four Voyages of Amerigo Vespucci
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart

No, you were right... I added a section 21 when I deleted an earlier section that didn’t fit in this collection; then when I added the last story I rearranged things to have 20 sections as originally intended. Well, it makes sense to me.
