Jack and Jill by Louisa May Alcott (1832 - 1888).

This project is complete and all audio files can be found in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/jack-and-jill-dramatic-reading-by-louisa-may-alcott/

When Jack and Jill tumble off their sled on the first good snow of the season, their injuries cause them to be bedridden for many months, putting an end to their fun and frolics. Their parents and friends fill their days with the joys of Christmas preparations, a theatrical production and many other imaginative events. Both learn how to become better friends to each other and their other school mates through their many trials. This is sure to become a family favorite! Dedicated to Beth Thomas. (Summary by Mary Anderson)
All roles will be gender neutral, except where noted in the MW (M=Male, F=Female)
Please read ONLY from the script links in the MW!

  1. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two-month deadline.
    .
  2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here:
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (and include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during, and after your recording.
    .
  3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    .
  4. Where do I find the text?
Source text (only for the DPL!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/2786
Please read from the Text Links in the Magic Window — scroll down past the character listings!
    .
  5. Please claim roles by section number (the numbers in the first column below).
Please note: All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.
    .
If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalog. We can also link to a personal website/blog.
    .
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

    .
  7. Make sure you add this to the beginning of your recording:
    [Role], read by [Your Name].

Please remember to check this thread frequently for updates!
    .
  8. AFTER recording:
Save files as 128 kbps MP3
    jackandjill_[##]_[role].mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the two-digit chapter number. (e.g. jackandjill_01_frank.mp3)
    .
    Note for the Editor:

Oh boy! I've been told lately to wait until MW is up. So I will. But I have to say that I have my eye on a part and I hope it's not taken by the time I get up tomorrow!...

I say: Go ahead and tell Twinkle which part you want to do, and she can put you in whenever a magic window is made for this project. :)

Yes, I think that it would alright, since the project has begun. What role would you like, storygirl?

Here's the character list: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dIpSF-LiDDHYVvLdh-MGhzK3wqIsAu-wtNE69JEN6jw/edit?usp=sharing

Can I play Molly Bemis?

Note I'm new and I will need to record my 1 minute test.

I would be happy to read for Mr. Grant, and if you double cast for bit parts, the Fisherman, and maybe Mr. Chauncey

For the record, I am MC'ing 3 DRs right now and won't take on another until one of them is cataloged.

This one has stalled out on the final PL - it needs final PL on many sections: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=74647 Elijah, are you the final DPL, or were you just doing the roles? (No need to reply in this thread; please head to that thread to PL or post about that project.)
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart
Humor: My Lady Nicotine

Tricia, do you need a DPL for that? I can take it, if so.

Please post over there. I don't know if Elijah is DPL for all completed sections or just for parts. The BC should know.
