Times are approximate

1:30 'returned' not refunded (I leave this one for you to decide.)

32:35 'patentable' rather than potentable (?)

36:06 'hills' not halls

Great reading!
it will GREATLY help me if you could be more precise with the times (if not two or three more words for context)

the "returned" error (1:42) in my PDF from the Chicago Sunday Tribune, reads "refunded at the door" in the King's message on his back
So...we can leave the "refunded"

32:35 (at 32:28) " 'patentable' rather than potentable (?)"...this one is an example of what I should have corrected ON MY OWN!! But I read it as printed!! and it was WRONG!! Thanks!!!!!!

36:06 (36:00) 'hills' not halls (good catch!! thanks!!!!!!)

I don't think you will make any errors, but I will do my best!

Seriously, you're doing a great job. I think my notes for Section 2 are clear enough.

And I really will try to be more precise, but I am jumping from one window to another when I am listening and reading. I'll see what can be done.

Times are approximate.

The first issue might be one of the title you use. The text you cite is "At the Shrine of St. Wagner."

0:25 'rolling' not pulling

4:35 'grand and lonely' and not lovely

15:10 'and in some of the other operas' Your recording omits 'the other.'

EDIT: I mean to say, for the last note: You omit 'of the other.'
NOTE: I have gone through the WHOLE recording and changed ALL "Bayreuth" pronunciations to the accepted pronunciation I SHOULD have looked up initially!!!!!

"The text you cite is "At the Shrine of St. Wagner." "....I used the title in the Chicago Sunday Tribune: Mark Twain at Bayreuth"...the PDF uploaded to Dropbox

thanks!!!

corrections made and 02 is being uploaded now.

Hahaha! Most non-German speakers will wonder what you are talking about.

By the way, I will need the times where you made changes. Or at least tell me how many there are.

Can we let this go....since it's an interpretation issue...not a spelling issue.??

I carefully went to each instance of "Bayreuth" and changed them all....

I've listened to Section 2 again and have marked it PL OK. There is one 'Bayreuth' that has not been changed, however. It is in the outro.

John, I've tried again to read the dropbox collection and I just can't manage it. It just turns into fuzz when I zoom in. By Gosh, I don't know what your secret is. Lots of carrots, I suppose.

I will work off one of the other sources and we'll see how that goes. If we're looking for just changes that make a difference in meaning, I think we'll be all right.

I agree... there shouldn't be many “divergencies”
I hope

I'm halfway through 3 and have found little that is a problem. I let 'porter' go for 'portier' but can find its time if I have to. I'll be finished soon!

Section 3.

You might consider putting just a bit more silence at the very beginning of the recording.

Times are spot on.

7:33 'half past ten' which has to be changed to make sense in its context.

20:49 'convened' and not convinced

22:19 'persuasion' and not permission

29:06 'resolution' and not revolution

This has been my favorite so far. Classic Twain!
