Thanks for the welcome. I've posted my 1-minute test and am waiting for feedback. viewtopic.php?f=21&t=76893

 I have no idea how my Audacity settings could have been changed! I never change the bit rate, and have never, ever seen this happen. So, a great mystery to me, but so glad you caught it. (I just checked another file I just uploaded, and it came out variable as well.)

Anyway, here is the corrected file:

Not fluent in Greek, just enough to get by from college days, and a major in philosophy, oh so many years ago.
On the road again, so delays are possible

I almost didn’t put your file through checker because they’re always right on. :) So I nearly missed it!

Thanks! I’ll get to it later this week.

https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/historyofphilosophy_38-2_turner_128kb.mp3
PL notes:
1) File name should have section number 36 rather than chapter number
2) Volume is currently low at 81.0 dB, please amplify by 8

Otherwise it seemed to be very well done. If you made errors while reading, you did a great job cutting them out! I didn't notice any 'patching'. :) Good reading!

PL OK now.

Checker gives 20:55:11 as the time, and opening it in the MW I see 20:55. So I changed the duration in the MW to that rather than 20:56 as you had given. Let me know if this is wrong.

Edit: I just realized that I gave ~28:33 in my PL notes rather than ~18:33. But you caught it.

A second or two off won't raise any alarm bells. It's when it's more than a few seconds that I will wonder if the correct file was sent to the catalog - or if it was one that was a previous version without needed edits, or a different section altogether. It happens! :)

It's funny - I've gotten a bit OCD on this, especially in my solos. I'll work the silences so that my recording is JUST over the full second rather than ending at a half second, giving a weird rounding error so that it shows as :55 in one spot but :56 in another.
School fiction: David Blaize
America Exploration: The First Four Voyages of Amerigo Vespucci
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart

After doing a King, a Frog, a London spiv and some country accents, I'll need to polish up my serious one.
Thank you!
