Manners and Rules of Good Society - Or, Solecisms to be Avoided - by a Member of the Aristocracy.

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/manners-and-rules-of-good-society-by-anonymous/

The title of this work sufficiently indicates the nature of its contents. The Usages of Good Society relate not only to good manners and to good breeding, but also to the proper etiquette to be observed on every occasion.
(Quote: First sentence of "Introductory Remarks")
The abbreviation viz. (or viz without a full stop) is short for the Latin videlicet, which itself is a contraction of the Latin phrase videre licet, meaning "it is permitted to see". (Wikipedia)
  1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
  2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    .
  3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.

  4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/files/33716/33716-h/33716-h.htm
    .
  5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.
    .
Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening!
    Level of prooflistening: standard
    DPLs: KevinS, Jmbau13

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Are you open to reader claims yet?

If it's okay, I'd like Ch. 1, 7, 9, 14, 26, 37.

hi storygirl,

wow  thank you! :D

while i are glad to see your claims, please wait until we leave the launchpad.

in book suggestions, there were two people interested in 3 chapters
namely:
Dwarika: 2
Jmbau13: 3, 33

so, your claims should work for 1, 7, 9, 14, 26 and 37
... but it is too early, since we cannot enter them at this state, without mc and mw.

but i will note your claims in the first post and come back to you as soon as possible, if you are ok with that :-)

thank you and cheers

Sure, that's fine. It's always hard to tell because some people don't mind claims as soon as the project is posted, and for others it can be overwhelming. I never know if I should wait on it and take a risk! :)

I'd like to do sections 5, 6 and 32 please. I'll leave the others, they were just a brief dip into it.
