Andrew the Glad by Maria Thompson Daviess (1872 - 1924).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/andrew-the-glad-by-maria-thompson-daviess/
"There are some women who will brew mystery from the decoction of even a very simple life. Matilda is one of them, remarked the major to himself as he filled his pipe and settled himself before his high-piled, violet-flamed logs..."

A sweet, heartfelt, old-fashioned romance. The middle-aged adults take a kindly interest in the affairs of the young people, with many having friendships across generations in a way not often seen today. Experience life with Phoebe, David, Caroline, Andrew, and the Buchanans in a small town in the Harpeth Valley, Tennessee in the early 1900s.

This book reflects many of the feelings and attitudes prevalent at the time of its original publication. It may contain references that reflect mores and opinions that directly conflict with today’s prevailing sentiments. We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (for DPL only, see below for Scripts!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/13679
    5. Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.

Would love to be Mistake. Can also claim some other small roles - I see his mother does not appear in the same chapters as him.

Wonderful. I'll put you all in as soon as I get a MW.

Leanne, yes you could be both his mother and Mistake if you want. :)

This is set up.

I took the tilde out from the start of the thread title since you said you're going to PL parts. Otherwise I think it's confusing. I think it would be good to advertise for a PL for the final chapters later on, when there are some to listen to - or like I put in the thread title, note that it's the final DPL needed. It's more specific. ;)

I heard that Andy wasn't home until after midnight last night. And he was ... well, he may have been just tired ,,, but he was most certainly swaying ... and humming.

I'm not sure the proper way to pronounce the last name "Sevier". French? English? Doing a little research.... If any of you happen to know, shout it out. This is early 1900s rural Tennessee.

Answer: Just as you would "severe." The county takes its name from General John Sevier, first Governor of the State of Tennessee. The surname Sevier was originally the French name "Xavier." John Sevier never lived in the county."

So let's go with "severe"

Looks like you're all set. I'll move it to Readers Wanted.

There doesn't appear to be a section 0, so I've made the sections to number starting at 1. If this needs changing, I can do so. The section numbers don't matter as much on a DW since no files (except the final ones) need them.
