Hi,

I would like to claim sections 26, 27, 28 and 29, the sections of the story The Bitterness in the Cup.
It will be my first contribution after the 1 minute test, please take care of me.

As for my catalogue name, "meowyan" will suffice =D

sparky0506 wrote: October 12th, 2019, 5:56 pm I have just a couple of questions about fixing this recording. You ask to have the intro completed but there is not enough space in the beginning of my recording to insert more into. I know how to cut something out but not add something to the beginning. Also, the Effects button has Amplify as an option but I don't see how to turn down the volume on something. Any help you have is appreciated. Sparky0506
Hi Sparky,

In order to add something in, you will need to record in a separate file, then copy and paste it where it needs to go in the recording. :-)

To de-amplify, after you select the spot you want to make quieter, and just move the slider in the opposite direction - it will show a negative number.

I'm going to post some links to some videos that one of our volunteers made, that may be helpful to you.

A couple of videos on using the compressor effect, that may be helpful with your loud spikes problem (instead of deamplifying)

I'm still having difficulty cutting where I need to and inserting something. I overdid cutting and lost some of the recording. Maybe best to give this section to someone else until I get the hang of working with Audacity. Sparky

Thank you for this, Lola! I was looking in the video links to see if Phil had done one for this particular subject, and I didn't see this one!

Hi Sparky,

Don't give up! Lola posted a video after your post that is specifically on how to cut something out of audacity.
If you can't retreive what you accidentally cut, you can always download your file from the one you uploaded here.

If worst comes to worst I can edit the file for you ~ we don't want to discard all your hard work!
