Rapunzelina:

Usually in this type of collection, there is a stated limit of three (3) stories that can be submitted.

Does that rule apply for this collection, as I didn't see anything like it in the instructions? Because if not, I have one more story I'd like to submit.

Thanks,

Hi Tony! We don't currently have this rule for the ghost and horror collection.
By all means! Looking forward to your next contribution!

Tony! Needless to say, brilliant reading; I felt goosebumps!

Just one note, about the intro, if you could add the Librivox disclaimer.

Rapunzelina:

About the stories that brockprice has been submitting ...

Can Futrelle's stories involving The Thinking Machine be really classified as "ghost" or "horror" stories? Seems to me that they're actually "mysteries".

The one I proof-listened, about the crystal gazer, had something otherwordly (before the thinking machine solved it), and the victim was about to die of horror, poor soul!

What do you think, Brock? Are they more of a mystery than horror?

And thank you for your new contribution! :9:

Text: https://archive.org/details/1892lotno249doyleharpersmagsept
Author: A. Conan Doyle
Title: "Part One of 'Lot No. 249' "
Duration: 51:35

N.B.: This is not officially "Part One" -- but since the story is a long one, this first part is a bit more than half of the story; it "ends" on p.535, top of column 2, with the words "in the future." ... so I guess I have a slot reserved for Part Two, which I hope to post in the next week or so.

N.B. also: The author is (not-yet-Sir) Arthur Conan Doyle; the name "A. Conan Doyle" is how it is listed in the magazine, both in the table of contents and at the beginning of the story.

...and... since this is my first one with a lot of voices (it could have been a DR!), any constructive criticism about the voices is appreciated. :D

Thank you...LJB
Part 1 is PL OK! Now I'm looking forward to Part 2!!

I liked what you did with the voices, I find it quite discreet and natural to my ears
O good.
I wasn't sure about all the guys' voices.
I will try to get Part 2 done within a week or two.
Thank you...LJB 8-)
Rapunzelina,
I think I might take too long to complete Part 2 of "Lot No. 249."
I don't want to hold up completion of this collection just for my sake.
So it might be better to pull Part 1 out of 035 and hold it for 036, if that is possible.
(I will certainly fix "Man Overboard" soon, though.)
Thank you...LJB

"Mystery" is a good classification.

The supernatural elements in many of Futrelle's stories are like the ghostly, masked villains in a Scooby-Doo mystery. Somebody is always pulling the strings.

I'm fine with classifying the stories along different lines. Just let me know.
No problem. Thanks.

The Reconciliation is now marked PL OK in the Magic Window

And so is the Problem of the Hidden Million! Listening to it, there was an atmosphere of horror at times, and Brock's reading accentuated that quite nicely! I'd say we can consider the collection flexible enough to include mystery stories that contain a dose of horror, or a glimpse of ghost.
