The Bronze Eagle: A Story of the Hundred Days by Baroness Orczy (1865 - 1947).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-bronze-eagle-by-baroness-orczy/
The Bronze Eagle is a romantic historical novel which takes place during the return of Napoleon and his attempt to reestablish his Empire. The main character is a rich English businessman, who falls in love with an aristocratic young woman, with lots of pitfalls and challenges.
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/25955
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

  • The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
    START of recording (Intro):

"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • Say:
"The Bronze Eagle: A Story of the Hundred Days, by Baroness Orczy. [Chapter]"

For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    • "Chapter [number] of The Bronze Eagle: A Story of the Hundred Days by Baroness Orczy. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • Only if applicable, say:
      "[Chapter title]"
    END of recording:
    • At the end of the section, say:
      "End of [Chapter]"
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • At the end of the book, say (in addition):
"End of The Bronze Eagle: A Story of the Hundred Days, by Baroness Orczy. "

There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.
  • Example filename bronzeeagle_##_orczy_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. bronzeeagle_01_orczy_128kb.mp3)

This is set up. I assume you don't have a DPL lined up?

No DPL at present. Do I need to do something about that? I'm still new at solo. Thanks for setting things up. Deon

The tilde ~ I put in the thread title is the universal sign that there's no DPL yet. We'll see if we snag one. If there isn't one after you've gotten a couple sections up, we'll advertise for one over in Listeners & Editors Wanted.

Hi Deon,

I would gladly be your DPL, if you are willing to wait for the return of my PC. (My current android has limitations.)
If you receive another offer and decide to take it, I will understand.

You're entered as DPL, so you should be able to log in. :hmm: Are you able to get into any other MWs?

Now that my system is back, I can log in to the MW,
but it doesn't recognize me if I try a different device.
