drat, I forgot about that one. I think I'd better leave it for someone else-- midterms are approaching and my schedule might get a bit overwhelming. thanks for the reminder, sorry to back out, etc.

Does the stationmaster start at the line that reads: "There would be one to Reading in less than a..."?
Lola
Yes, the first section is reported speech, then lower down there’s some actual dialogue. Sorry the colour didn’t turn out very well - it looked better on my computer screen!

Dear Kathrinee,
(And all volunteers!)
Just to let you know that I am out of action for a little while. Fortunately,
Elizabby has stepped up to bear the brunt of the work until I have recovered.
I hope to be up and about in plenty of time to do the editing thaough. (And record the rest of the narration!)

I have absolutely nothing in this world but time - so I believe I should invest it wisely...

Andrew,
I'm in the middle of editing Sherlock. Do you want to give a "standard" pronunciation for us to use for the horse-drawn "brougham". The most frequent that I've seen mentioned on the internet is "broom", but I have seen a few others. I'm a bit uncomfortable with "broom" because of the meaning that will spring up in the ears of modern listeners. I'd prefer the less popular BROW-uhm, because it carries a picture of the spelling with it.
Your decision, though.
Peter

Hi Peter, I agree with you. I think the two syllable version makes it clear he’s not riding a broom!
