Coffee Break Collection 23 -- Mysteries, Riddles and Conundrums by Various ( - ).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/coffee-break-collection-23-mysteries-puzzles-and-conundrums-by-various/
This is the twenty-third Coffee Break Collection, in which Librivox readers select English language public domain works of about 15 minutes or less in duration -- perfect to listen to during commutes, workouts or coffee breaks. The topic for this collection is Mysteries, Riddles and Conundrums. Short mystery fiction, puzzles that have baffled generations, whether solved or unsolved and anything our forefathers have struggled to explain. Fiction, non-fiction, poetry, prose, essays... all are welcome here. ( )
  • [There is no need to pre-claim.

New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!

Where do I find the text? Any Public Domain text is acceptable. Project Gutenberg is a good place to start.
If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Madness
The volume is low. Please amplify by ~4dB.

Conscious PL OK

Both pieces sound a little over-processed. No need to fix anything, but bear it in mind for future recordings.

This is my first attempt at contributing and I hope I did this correctly. I have uploaded a recording attention to Lynnet at https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/cb023_themiddletoeoftherightfoot_RS_128kb.mp3

The Middle Toe of the Right Foot by Ambrose Bierce
I found it on Project Gutenberg
https://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Short_Stories_(Bookshelf)

But I found the text on http://www.eastoftheweb.com/short-stories/UBooks/MidToe.shtml

Thank you for your contribution. I need to know how long it is in mm:ss.

Also, it is essential we have Public Domain works. The Project Gutenberg link is good, but it is best to read from PG. if the other source deviates in any waym it voids the Public Domain status and we don’t have the resources to contest any lawsuit regarding doubtful texts. I will check it within the next couple of days and let you know if we need any changes.
