"America" by James Monroe Whitfield (1822-1871)

The last one has two small mistakes, but the meaning is the same. At 0:53, I said "hills" instead of "hill" and, at 5:23, I said "a sad and fervent" instead of "a sad, a fervent" prayer."
Thank you, Mike! Is it OK if I rename the files to add a numeral, to retain the order? (america1, america2, america3)

I am not up on my names for different parts of a church, but this one had kind of upstairs / downstairs parts at the back. They were upstairs chanting away and I was downstairs in some sort of chapel. It was about 8am. These monks have a tough timetable!
Sounds like you had a tough timetable, as well!
Thanks again! It's now in the MW

Hello Arthur! Welcome to the Poetry Collection and congrats on your first librivox contribution! Everything is great with the recording! It's now in the Magic Window.
To add to the answers to your questions, it's safer to go with PD text sources, like gutenberg. The changes you noted in other sources, might be later editions that are copyrighted.

Thank you, Arthur! This recording is great, too! And in the Magic Window! By the way, your name in the Magic Window is a link, that leads to your Reader Page in the catalogue; it lists all projects you've read for, so it might look a bit empty now, but if you enjoy recording you won't even realize how fast it will fill up! :D

Hello Disce Sine Fine! Welcome to Librivox and the Poetry Collection! Thank you for your contribution! The tech specs of the recording are spot on, but I get a lot of background noise. Have you found a quiet place to do your recordings? Or do you think the noise could be due to faulty connections of the microphone? You could experiment with the Noise Reduction effect, but still I think it's too much to remove effectively. And I say that because the recording needs more volume, too, so if you amplify the recording, the background noise will also get amplified, so it's best if it can be avoided when recording.
Would you like to try and see if you can get a cleaner recording?

I know! I've already reserved a place in some other projects and plan to add a few more as time goes by. I've counted 8, I think.

Here are two more from me for this month's collection, both from books new to the PD this year.
I plan to make them both into full LV projects, but wanted to get representation into a monthly collection.
