Selection of text from the four-volume work by Epictetus commonly referred to as the Discourses. The sections are mostly quite short but packed with wisdom and hard earned experience. Feel free to claim as many sections as you like. This was a solo t hat has been opened as a group project. Footnotes and items in parentheses are to be ignored unless you feel they should be included. ( )
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/10661

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I will set this up for you in a minut e. An interesting project .

EDIT: I took the liberty of adding the tilde ~ to the title to announce that we will need a DPL. If you have someone already committed just let me know.
EDIT2: Here is a video about getting into the magic window for the first time https://youtu.be/_cDPSmlTjGM

Hi Phil! Thanks for setting up this project and for taking liberty with the title. I do not in fact have anyone in mind as DPL.

I was able to login using the instructions from your video. However, I received an error when I attempted to navigate to "Login for BC/MC" -- "You don't have permissions for this area". I'm not sure if I need access to this area as a solo-reader.

A couple questions (sorry, I'm new to this!):
  1. If I do not have / need access to the BC area, are you able to assign the sections to me?
  2. I calculated the number of sections last night off-the-cuff using the number of Discourse items (70) plus the Encheiridion sections (50) split into 10 as they are on the smaller side (hence 80). During the course of the project, am I able to update the number of sections if necessary?
Thanks so much!

Yes, as a soloist you are responsible for the Magic Window; putting your recorded sections into it as you finish them for the DPL to listen to. The number of sections if no problem, just tell me if you need more or less and I will take care of it. About access, I tried to put you into the system and perhaps it did not take yet. please give it another try. You will also assign yourself to all of the sections, that is easy.

You may have logged in to the uploader using the generic login. Log out of the uploader; then log in (to the uploader or to the Magic Window; it's the same) using your own personal login.

Note to soloist: you have the right to choose your DPL and I believe you should most definitely accept this offer!

Please try again to get into the magic window. I think the problem was that the project had not accepted your status as a BC (book coordinator). It does now.

Hey Phil. I just tried again and I'm still getting the permissions error: "You don't have permissions for this area."

Hey TriciaG - I was on a different machine at the time, so I don't think it's related to the generic login. I just gave it another go from my normal machine in a private browser (to make sure there isn't a caching issue), but it is still throwing the same error.

Thanks for all of the help everyone! Hopefully once access is sorted out you won't have to hear from me as frequently

Tricia. Would you see if you can add him to the BC roster? My attempts don't seem to take hold. This is why he can't get in.

Thanks Dave! That did the trick with regards to accessing the MC/BC section of the admin tools.

Phil - I was able to search for the project by Author and find it listed. However, when I click on the ID I still receive the permissions error. It seems that I have BC access but not access to this specific project? Is there anything else I need to do from my end to resolve that? Thanks again!
