[GROUP] The Complete Works Of Brann The Iconoclast Volume 12 by William Cowper Brann.

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-complete-works-of-brann-the-iconoclast-volume-12-by-william-cowper-brann/
William Cowper Brann earned the nickname “The Iconoclast” by fearlessly attacking established beliefs and institutions which he thought to be pompous and self-serving. He settled in the wild and wooly West Texas town of Waco in the late 1800s as a newspaper man - first as a writer and then as owner of newspaper he named “The Iconoclast”. During this period, Catholics and Protestants were duking it out over the soul of Texas and there was even further sectarian strife among Protestants. Brann wrote prolifically and aired his Politically Incorrect views with vigor and colorful language. Described as a “slouch-hatted, gun-toting, beer-drinking, woman-worshiping man,” he assailed Baptists, Prohibition, blacks and universities as though engaged in a life-or-death gunfight; and actually he was killed in a gunfight at age 43. After he was shot in the back, drew his own gun and killed the man who had bushwacked him AND THEN walked directly to the jail before dying the next morning.

This Volume 12 consists mainly of newspaper editorials and accounts of his death. Here you'll find both praise for his work and criticisms of his junk-yard-dog style of attack journalism. In addition there is a handful of his scathing articles and speeches... really delightful reading!
    1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/completeworksofb12branuoft

All set up.
Please shorten the file name e.g. iconoclast12
Also, you can safely delete the whole section of instructions regarding id tags.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Let me know if you need anything else.
It turns out that there are only 46 Sections.
What must I do to change that?

Do I have to announce in the Firs Post that *I* am the DPL?

Also, what else must be done to be able to accept readers?

Again, I very much appreciate your help!

You're a busy woman!

It should go wherever Volume 1 is located.

Volume 1 is catalogued and located in “complete”... so I’m not sure where it was; but if these are essays, this is the right place.

Thanks!

It's yours, Jim! There are many short, dramatic sections in this project.
Please browse and look for others, too.

NOTE: there are a couple of minor changes to the Intro and Outro. Essentially, "Chapter" is to be replaced by "Section"

Congratulations on another fine project. I'll be happy to PL these first sections for you, and will look for a few sections to record as well.

I would like the project moved to Books if possible.

There are lots of short sections which should be attractive to naive readers. Iconoclast Vol 1 was getting almost hourly requests from readers by this time,.

Maybe I've been spoiled by the prompt success of Iconoclast Vol. 1.

This is gonna another wild-and-wolly project!

Done!
There is no rhyme or reason to why sometimes projects take off quickly, while others take a while to get going. With patience, they all get done, though.
