Have PL'd all these now Lola.
With 16,
- a slightly jarring mid-phrase halt please around 30s 'shut up...her young kid'
-around 48 the word 'cheat' is not clear - only half audible
- at the end, should be 'end of SECTION (not chapter) 16' (not chapter) - you have done this on 16-19 (but not 20!), saying Section at the beginning, but Chapter at the end. I will leave it up to you whether to correct 17-19, and perhaps you could focus on saying end of SECTION for the rest?
Thanks for reading.

Could I claim sections 158-167? Thanks!
Have PL'd those uploaded. All OK. Lovely clear reading, with a nice sense of phrasing. Thanks for reading.

Read request: Ok, I've got myself down for 21-23, 25, and 30-31. Please add 34 and 12 to make 10. :) Thanks! And thanks for the kind words about my reading! :) It's so fun!
Re. volume, Checker failed both your files so not quite there yet, I am afraid.
So weird! I just downloaded Checker (thanks for the rec!), and it passed my local copy of 6 (see below), but not 7. I trimmed the end, exported to MP3 and checked the bit rate settings, and then it passed 7 (see below). I'll re-upload this one again, and maybe 6 too... maybe I uploaded an old file? Maybe that's why the 7 file on the server was wrong too... Oh dear  I might still need help, but I'll wait until I'm sure we're both looking at the same files.

Here are the new uploads. I added the date to the end to make sure I was uploading a new file and that you were listening to the new file.

Here are the pics of my Checker results:

Well, there seems to be some confusion here, so let's see if I can clarify.

I checked the files of 6 and 7 that are in the MW

6 is high at 94.4 dB
7 is okay at 90.4 dB

Both are otherwise fine.

I checked the new files you uploaded and they are both fine

6 is okay at 88.4 dB
7 still same at 90.4 dB

(My readings exactly match the images you linked to)

So, the only thing you need to do now is upload the new file for 6 under the original file name so it will be the one the MW points to.

These are really only minor adjustments and ones I make to all of my recordings as a matter of routine.
When I finish my editing, I run ReplayGain, and then use the Amplification tool from the Effects menu in Audacity, either a + or - value to equal 89.
This will always bring the file within the range and then I export as .mp3

Checker is a great little tool written specifically for LV, checking all of our technical specifications. As I think I mentioned, I use it only for PL work. But, you certainly can use it as an additional check, since it looks at all other specs too.

Let me know if something still isn't clear
I think you're doing a great job, and you will soon be in the swing of things.

Thanks for your patience and for your contributions. :D

I'm already getting into a little routine. This is super fun! I like the short readings, getting my feet wet here with Aesop and his little lessons. :)

Great!
I've marked 6 and 7 PL OK and 21-23 are marked Ready for PL.
(I ran them all through Checker, and the specs are fine).

I think you off to a great start with LibriVox, and I hope you will continue to enjoy it.
We want to hear a lot more of your voice. :)

Sections 12 and 34 had previously been request (see above) but had not been added to the Magic Window.
I have given you the others, so feel free to choose a few more.

All good - you've got it now! Lovely reading, and 21-23 all PL OK.
Short readings are good for getting into things, aren't they?

I'd love to have you make you debut here!

But, we do ask our new readers first to complete a one-minute test recording to check out your recording specs. There is info on this in your welcome message, or you can read about it in the Newbie Guide to Recording. You will find a link to that under point 2 in the leading post of this thread with all of the instructions. There's a lot of other useful material in there as well.

Once you have the OK on your test, post a not here again and I'll assign these sections to you.
In the meantime, I will save these for you for a while.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Here is 16 with the noted corrections made to the jarring space and the volume raised for the word 'cheat'. I also correcte the end of "section" phrase for 16-19

:hmm: Uh, did you upload another 16? There is a different link where I would expect to see it above.
17-19 are marked PL OK.
