Re: The Chevalier Dude...
I've made all the requested corrections (plus a couple that I spotted myself when listening again!)
It's been a while, so I hope that I did the right thing by posting it to Lynette's files. (Just let me know if I got it wrong again!)
Elsie. Totally with you on the English currency thing! (I was there, and I still don't understand it! They had just introduced
decimalisation when I started school at 4 years old...)
Your 'optional' suggestions... These are either French or Latin quotes - so both English and American pronunciation are 'technically' incorrect -
so what's the diff!
Lynette. I think I got mixed up with all the French currency - I figured that the French government would pay a French citizen in French money.
However, on re-reading that reference it is obvious that Mr. Lang is referring to proceeds from the auction! (Confused? Moi?)
Anyway, if I have cocked up the upload in any way - just let me know!

Yes, reuploads should be uploaded with the same file name and to the same folder, unless you’ve been told otherwise. That way, the link in the MW is still good.
As for edits, only those of a technical nature are required. All others are “suggestions” — bearing mind it’s the reader that looks like an idiot if the reading is way off base (i.e. it pays to listen to the DPL).
Pronunciation is always difficult... so, as a rule, we are not supposed to comment on it. There are many different variations within the English language. Case in point: I was BC in a project where the word “fete” came up. The reader read it as I would, and the DPL asked for a correction, saying it sounded like she said “fate”, rather than the ‘correct’ pronunciation of “fet”. After some debate, we discovered according to OED, one way was correct with the other listed as an alternate pronunciation; according to Merriam Webster, it was the other way round.

You just can't win, can you?
A few years back I was listening to a LibriVox read, and the guy mentioned that 'the protagonists' were just passing the Kway.
I spent ages trying to figure out what a kway was - until I realized that he was referring to a 'quay'! (I'm a bit slow
on the uptake like that! )

It's just for me the PL to go back and double check that the errors have been fixed. Sometimes people forget about an error or accidentally reupload the old, incorrect file.

Thank you.

How did it get so late so soon?
It’s night before it’s afternoon.
December is here before it’s June.
My goodness how the time has flewn.
How did it get so late so soon?
