I finally got down to updating the MW! Thank you for reposting, because, yes, I would have missed itmaxgal wrote: ↑August 11th, 2019, 11:17 am
Just checking... I don't see this in the MW yet.
Maybe it fell into my morass of stuff about "Lot No. 249" -- which, BTW, I am working on like a demon.
LN249 isn't an easy one! Lots of dialogue, lots of characters.
It's an interesting challenge, upon which I am determined to be a literary Wonder Woman...
And thanks for the pronunciation info! Sounds good

In this case the text matches the one published in 1906. But Australian law is different from US law, and Gutenberg Australia may contain works or editions that are pd in Australia (author's death + 50 years) but not in the US (published 95 years ago and earlier).Honnha wrote: ↑August 11th, 2019, 12:00 pm Hello,
It's been a while since I've read for LibriVox, but I'm back and would like my first submission to be here.
I'd like to record "When I Was Dead" by Vincent O'Sullivan published in 1906.
The only online text version available at this time is on Project Gutenberg Australia, but given Mr. O'Sullivan died in 1940 his works are now in the public domain.

Thanks,
H. Newberry
We'll use this text source in the catalogue, please read from here: http://www.steve-calvert.co.uk/public-domain-texts/vincent-osullivan--when-i-was-dead.html
Welcome back! It's great to have you recording here again! Have fun!

Archive.org and hathitrust.org both have it in O’Sullivan’s 1896 collection “A Book of Bargains” if that’s any help:Honnha wrote: ↑August 11th, 2019, 12:00 pm I'd like to record "When I Was Dead" by Vincent O'Sullivan published in 1906.

Text: https://archive.org/details/1892lotno249doyleharpersmagsept
Author: A. Conan Doyle
Title: "Part One of 'Lot No. 249' "
Duration: 51:35
N.B.: This is not officially "Part One" -- but since the story is a long one, this first part is a bit more than half of the story; it "ends" on p.535, top of column 2, with the words "in the future." ... so I guess I have a slot reserved for Part Two, which I hope to post in the next week or so.
N.B. also: The author is (not-yet-Sir) Arthur Conan Doyle; the name "A. Conan Doyle" is how it is listed in the magazine, both in the table of contents and at the beginning of the story.
...and... since this is my first one with a lot of voices (it could have been a DR!), any constructive criticism about the voices is appreciated.
Thank you...LJB

Thank you, Louise!
Thank you Honnha!
That must've been fun!!! I'll reserve a slot for Part 2
Thank you Honnha!
Technically your recording is great, that is, all tech specs correct, nice volume and clear sound, and lovely reading voice! Our DPL will proof-listen to the content later on, but feel free to work on your next selection

Fun, yes.
Slow, yes.
Exhausting, yes.
Entertaining for the listener, and not annoying? Maybe...
Thanks for the reservation.

Hi Rapunzelina, I have a very short (just shy of 10 minutes), humorous story of the preternatural kind. It's by GK Chesterton, and it tells of an odd game of croquet (Titled "The Perfect game"). Would this be suitable for this edition, and if not can you think where it might fit in the LV catalogue? I am returning to LV having been away for a good many years, and I thought it would be best to start with something short.

Hello, Andy! Welcome back to Librivox!
Yes, "The Perfect Game" will fit nicely in this collection! Looking forward to it! Have fun recording, and feel free to ask if any questions arise due to your absence.

Thanks Rapunzelina, I will post the tale soon. And if I manage to post it without too much bother, I may go on to look at "The Room in the Tower" , E.F. Benson, which is creepy and a bit vampish and vapire-ish.
