Do you think you might record both the Preface and Chapter One together?

Of course, it's entirely up to you.
O, I see that you mentioned an interest in it earlier.
So... Hey, it's your project (sort of), so your dibs... go for it. 8-)
I can look at some of the other suggestions instead.
It might take a bit of looking; one of the items was in very old English (or something) and I couldn't make it out at all.
I'll check back...LJB
I could do this one:
14,000 miles a carriage and two women
https://archive.org/details/gb8AK2WqPv1UIC
How about Chapter 14 (p.228)?
(Or Chapter 1, if there's some sort of rule to do only the first part of a long work.)
...LJB
PLEASE feel free to do the Black Death reading. I won't get to it.

As for first chapters, it's something of a tradition, I gather. It's helpful for others unfamiliar with a longer work and does not reveal much of the plot. That is, avoids 'spoilers.'

OK, you talked me into it 😬
I’ll do the preface & Chapter 1 of the Black Death.

O -- 2 Qs:
1 - Should I credit the translator as well as the author?
2 - Should I read the translator's preface as well as the author's preface?

heyho kevin,

may i suggest some tweaking of your first post?

1st:
Save files as
128 kbps MP3
librivox14thanniversarycollection_##_various_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. librivox14thanniversarycollection_01_various_128kb.mp3)
section number should be replaced with initials

2nd:
the tags paragraph can be deleted

cheers,

Kinda creepy given the ages in the title, but short and has "14" in the title:

Verses on a Glass Pen Presented by a Gentleman of Sixty to a Lady of Fourteen
author: Unknown
https://archive.org/details/jstor-30073046/page/n1
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/fourteen_versesonaglasspen_unknown_tg_128kb.mp3
1:40

Things were different in 1812.
School fiction: David Blaize
Exploration: The First Four Voyages of Amerigo Vespucci
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart
Humor: My Lady Nicotine

i recorded the text and edited 5 pages - calculating that for 35 pages, i will get approximately 85 minutes of recording.
so, i will probably need a second section (or so i read once in a while, already. but i honesty don't know about:)
is it important how i cut them?
--> shall i make something like 40/45 minutes both, or better 59 minutes and 26 minutes?

thank you for your answer!

Nearly equal lengths would be best, I suppose, unless there is a logical break in the text that would suggest otherwise. Please identify the sections as part one and part two in the intro.

Thanks very much for participating!
