I haven't seen a 14th anniversary collection yet, even though our anniversary is getting nearer and nearer. I don't recall who was BC in previous years, and I don't know if they'd be willing or able to do it this year. But I'd hate to see this year's anniversary come and go without a collection. It's one of my favorite traditions!

If need be, I can start up this collection myself, but I'd need a co-BC. I have a few projects already that I'm trying to get off of my plate so that I can introduce another DR.

Is anyone interested in helping me wrangle up a cool collection to commemorate 14 years of LibriVox?

Before committing, you may want to do research to find texts that have "14" in the title. I think the previous BC decided not to continue because it was getting harder to find texts.

(There's always Psalm 14 and Sonnet 14 and Chapter 14 of whatever book, but I suspect there aren't many stand-alone works above 13.)

cross post

A collection of the 14th chapter and 14th psalm seems pretty boring and I couldn't find anything much else when I looked

How does it all work? Could one read a chapter from a book with 'fourteen' in its title?

https://archive.org/search.php?query=%28fourteen%29+AND+date%3A%5B1800-01-01+TO+1923-12-31%5D&page=1

I'd even be willing to do a whole book: https://archive.org/details/myfourteenmonths00robi/page/n5

I think we should try it. And if contributions are hard to come by, we'll stop at 14.

Yes. Me.

And the 14th anniversary flower is said to be the dahlia. That's another possible link.

Hm. I hadn't researched it, no. I could see, though, why it might be a problem. Maybe from here on out we should only stick with multiples of five or ten for anniversaries. I'll give it some more thought.

If it were my project, I'd reject this idea as too far of a stretch. Same with anniversary flowers, etc. Traditionally, the number has been in the title of the work, although there were some other stretches in the past ("noon" for 12, for example).

But I'm not in charge, so I'd just roll my eyes instead.

What will it take for you to shout, "Go, team!"?

I'll do it!

Let's just let Devorah who proposed it have time to work things out - strange as it might seem to some, projects worked out in advance do turn out better.
