They sure were not bored in the Los Angeles of that time... busy with all that murdering and lynching and merchant efforts...

Okay, here's the final chapter: Chapter 30, Review and Prophecy.
https://librivox.org/uploads/triciag/californiaamericanperiod_30_cleland_128kb.mp3
Duration 16:28 Volume 90.38

Frankly, this chapter is a big disappointment for me, and an unhappy way to end an otherwise marvelous book. I find the blatantly racist opinions Dr. Cleland expressed in his "prophecy" offensive and inappropriate for a work of history. I've read it "as written," but had to hold my nose while I did so.

Oh, but let's be positive! We've finally reached the end of this effort. Yea, Team!

That's me! 8-)
How about you read the next one and I listen?
Actually we could arrange that as well, but that's new deal. How about the old deal - me relaxing in the evenings with some piece of stitching or knitting AND your voice reading something to me??? (Like in the Addams family movie, do you know the scene? "That's a new business and we do not talk about new business untiiiil the... next quarter!" )

It need not be right away of course, good book has to be found, but just think of it...

Meanwhile, section 27 and 28 are PL OK!

Yes, the prophecy added no value to the book... I actually found some of those opinions close to funny. Just imagine, those unruly "un-americanized europeans" threatening the culture of California, like some hordes of barbarians the ancient empire of Rome.

Anyway, this was a good book. I enjoyed it very much! :9: Million thanks for reading it, Steve!

Terrific! That was fast. Thank you, Kristine, for being such a good listener, and thank you, Tricia, for pulling it all together. It was a fun read.
