Kalamareader wrote: July 16th, 2019, 7:27 pm Hi, :help:

I have a question about chapter 12. There are some 'side notes' at the bottom of some of the pages. Could someone look at them and tell me if I should read them. I don't think so, as it appears to be comments by the compiler rather than by the man himself, but I don't want to make that call, and be wrong. :hmm: Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Wayne
Please read the note. It is actually one footnote, starting in page 302 and going on at the end of p.303. So please read it as "Footnote. (note text from p 302, note text from 303) End of footnote" and proceed with the text you were reading in p.302 originally.
Keep your mind here and now, where it belongs.

NOTE to Kristine--Jack has used the shortened disclaimer on this final short section, but I guess it's not a problem since the prior soloist's sections do use it--? (The instructions still show the shortened disclaimer as an option if you're OK with that.)
Short disclaimer will be OK for this case.
O.K., so now we may have to get Kristine involved behind the scenes. When I download Wayne's Section 10, it turns out that it is Jack's corrected Section 13. (And it does have the beginning silence corrected and the noise reduced, so it is the edited file.) So maybe, Jack, you uploaded the file with a "10" in the filename instead of a "13"--? Or who knows what happened. Some server hiccup somewhere. But no worries. Kristine can take a look behind the scenes and get things straightened out. All of the files should still be there and can be correctly named and linked in the MW. I will wait to hear what she has to say. :)
So, I think that I have renamed everything correctly now and each link should point where it should... Shout if there is still something wrong. :)
Keep your mind here and now, where it belongs.

JackLohr wrote: July 16th, 2019, 8:03 pm Thanks, Lucretia. I've shortened the starting silence, and applied noise reduction.
It lists at 4:36 and should be at the same location https://librivox.org/uploads/kikisaulite/journalofjohnwoolman_13_woolman_128kb.mp3
Kristine, If you want me to add a longer disclaimer, I'm happy to do it.

O.K.--we're in business now on the PL'ing! Thank you, Kristine, for your help behind the scenes--much appreciated!

Jack--all good on your section. I hope that we hear lots more from you around Librivox!

Hi Wayne--Nice job--thank you! There is an instance of clipping at the end of the track where the volume has spiked, but not worth uploading again. If you are using Audacity to record, you can go to the Menu bar and click on "View", then click on "Show Clipping". Any instances of clipping in your track will show up in red so that you can easily see the extent of the problem and reduce the volume. (You also might consider a light touch of noise cleaning for future tracks to improve on the background noise a bit.) Looking forward to your next section.

Thanks for letting me take part in this. I really enjoyed it.

Only twenty days from the first post and we only have one more to finish it up.

Wayne

P.S. I really thought the last paragraph of his Journal was thought provoking.
