It's here, but is less than one minute...

It was recorded using Audacity on Windows with a bluetooth headset.
Thanks!

Welcome!

Yeah, the test is a bit of a misnomer. Usually the recordings are about 20-30 seconds long. :)

Your tech settings are all correct, and it sounds good!

One thing concerns me. You have what seems to be 3 levels of volume. The first sentence is really quiet; the second is a bit louder, and the third is louder still.

Was this a conscious thing, or did your mic do it on its own?

If you can get your volume to stay around the 2nd or 3rd level, then you're golden. But the first level is too quiet.

Please let me know. :)

Thanks for checking this.

The volume gradually increasing is definitely strange, it seems every recording I make with Audacity has this problem! I'm instead using WavePad now and while the volume level is consistent, I think the microphone itself is quite quiet.

Should I make another recording?

If you're going to use another program, then yes please.

Or are you going to record in Wavepad, then move it to Audacity to edit? That's a possible solution.

There's a small program the spouse of a LibriVoxer developed to check the tech settings. If you're game, you can download it and use it to check the volume and other settings. It's here: https://cgjennings.ca/checker.html

Use the latest version. The volume information is in the Information tab. We aim for 89 dB, but anything between about 86 and 92 is good.

I have recorded it again here, and verified that it meets the standards as per the Checker software.
