The footnoting and quotation marks and the like are devilish in this passage. I suggest that you edit for some kind of consistency and commonsense.

You read really well, great pace, and very clear. I feel like I should mention again that because we are going for word perfect reading, I'm being picky about small word shifts that I ordinarily would ignore because they don't really change the meaning of the sentence. --inserting "quote" before and "end of quote" after all quoted passages

--"law of Anne" needs to be "law of 8 Anne" --my understanding is that the number specifies the year of the monarch's reign under which the law was made, same as we say "such-and-such law of 1890" -- if we just call it "such-and-such law" it obscures whether it's meant to indicate the law of 1890 or 1895 with the same title.
