Human, All Too Human: a Book for Free Spirits, Part 1, by Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 - 1900). Translated by Helen Zimmern (1846 - 1934)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/human-all-too-human-a-book-for-free-spirits-by-friedrich-nietzsche/

Abandoned project adopted by neecheelok70
"Human, all-too-Human, is the monument of a crisis. It is entitled: 'A book for free spirits,' and almost every line in it represents a victory—in its pages I freed myself from everything foreign to my real nature. Idealism is foreign to me: the title says, 'Where you see ideal things, I see things which are only—human alas! all-too-human!' I know man better—the term 'free spirit' must here be understood in no other sense than this: a freed man, who has once more taken possession of himself." (Nietzsche; Ecce Homo, p. 75.)

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

9 PL Ok.

I am wondering whether the word "division" rather than "chapter" should be used. The previous reader used the former even though the first post shows the latter.

edit: I just noticed that the filename was missing a z. I corrected it.

Thanks, Dave, for the listen and the correction. Yes, that is fine. So I need to correct my Section 9, right? By the way, my vacation begins tomorrow and lasts until the 13th, so as much as I hate to face it, I won't be recording for all that time. But it will be nice to see all the family together!

Yes, just the intro and outro of section 9. The first 8 sections use "division" as does the book. I will edit the first post.

9 PL OK.

You can leave out the birth/death years of the translator in the remaining sections.
