Slightly connected detective stories which are developed in a rather unusual way. The solutions are logical and less miraculous than those of Sherlock Holmes. Will not have the popular appeal of many other mystery stories, but will be liked by Post admirers. ( Simon & Schuster advert)
Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard
IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated). Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!
Genres for the project: Crime & Mystery Fiction/Detective Fiction
Keywords that describe the book:
============================================
The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording! START of recording (Intro):
"Chapter [number] of The Sleuth of St. James Square. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
Say: "The Sleuth of St. James Square, by Melville Davisson Post. [Chapter]"
For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
"Chapter [number] of The Sleuth of St. James Square by Melville Davisson Post. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
Only if applicable, say: "[Chapter title]"
END of recording:
At the end of the section, say: "End of [Chapter]"
If you wish, say: "Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
At the end of the book, say (in addition): "End of The Sleuth of St. James Square, by Melville Davisson Post. "
There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.
Example filename sleuthofstjamessquare_##_post_128kb.mp3 (all lower-case) where ## is the section number (e.g. sleuthstjamessquare_01_post_128kb.mp3)
Transfer of files (completed recordings) Please always post in this forum thread when you've sent a file. Also, post the length of the recording (file duration: mm:ss) together with the link.
Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader: https://librivox.org/login/uploader
(If you have trouble reading the image above, please message an admin)
You'll need to select the MC, which for this project is: annise
When your upload is complete, you will receive a link - please post it in this thread.
I can set this up as I've just catalogued something - back soon
All done. I'll move this to going solo and we will worry about a DPL when you have read something. Whoever reads anything there will be someone who likes it and someone who hates it. It's not a competition, LV is reader-centric. It's nice when someone says they love it but books that only one person ever listens to are important too.

Thank you. I don't know if a DPL will come forward right away, but that's okay (with me, at least.) I think someone will come forward sometime before I'm finished recording all the stories.
Section 2 PL OK. Captivating story!
Not sure if I want to commit to being the DPL, but I'll probably keep an eye on this and PL as I can till you find someone else.

Still looking for a DPL. I'm interested if you are.

That would be very kind of you. I must warn you, however, that this series of stories is being recorded partly for my own relief from 'heavier' stuff. (I'm working on some old religious texts, etc.) I don't know if I'll get a story done but every three weeks or so.
I'm currently editing the second, however, so that will be up soon. (Lost Lady)
If you can put up with me, I will be most appreciative.

Not a problem. I generally like DPL for solo projects and I've got a few that I only hear every other month.

I just want to underscore how grateful I am to you. You're great!

Thanks! You make it fun to listen. Glad you're set with a DPL!
