The Blind Brother by Homer Greene (1853 - 1940).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-blind-brother-by-homer-greene-2/

Changes to Project:
1) All roles are Gender Neutral
2) David O (dlolso21) is now BC, editor, and PL for parts
3) Linny will PL the final chapters

Follow Tom as he works diligently at the hope that one day Bennie will receive his sight, but also watch as Bennie is willing to remain blind to see a criminal behind bars. A heartwarming tale of forgiveness and self sacrifice as the family struggles with moral issues of putting what’s right in front of what they personally want. ( Luke Castle )
    1. Is there a deadline?
We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
    2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
    3. New to recording?
Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
    4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/45232
READ FROM COLOR CODED TEXT HERE https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EU1n6vB9UCHSNoeoSFo_1CNLsnxkAKT1wym7FQ5Qbu4
    5. Please claim roles (the numbers in the first column below)! Please note: All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. When you submit your recording, you will be placing your recording in the public domain as well.

If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

      ATTENTION :D

      A FEW NOTES ON CLAIMS

      1) One reader will play each role. The roles cannot be divided up based on MW sections. This means if you select a role that has multiple chapters, you will read all of those chapters. Readers may claim more than one role if they are in different chapters.

      2) All roles are gender neutral - feel free to claim any part that suites your fancy

      3) HAVE FUN!!!

You left this blank:
Number of sections (files) this project will have: This is essential for setting up a project, unless you want to go through the pain of adding them all manually. Trust me, you don't want to do that. ;)

please also provide at least a genre, if not some keywords.
School fiction: David Blaize
Exploration: The First Four Voyages of Amerigo Vespucci
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart
Humor: My Lady Nicotine

Another couple things. You may want to separate the google doc chapters into separate docs. People with slow computers will sit their loading for awhile... I even have a fast chromebook and it's taking about a minute or so to fully load. It's also harder to scroll, because it's trying to load the words onto the page as well.

Might want to also make the link to the google docs in large, that way people will see it

Hmm. No problem loading here, and my setup is not particularly high speed.

I hope you will also give us a list of characters with brief description.
There is a LOT of narration in this one.

Oh, and are you going for gender neutral of specific for this project?
On the road again, so delays are possible

Hi all,

Just stopping by to wish you good luck on the dramatic reading of this book. As the producer (with Distributed Proofreading (DP) volunteers) of this ebook for Project Gutenberg (PG), I'm always thrilled to see one of my projects make it to LibriVox (LV). And as the reader of the solo LV version of this book, I'm especially interested in how the dramatic reading turns out. I'm sure it will be a good one.

Best regards to all, and I'm looking forward to listening to the finished product.

I'm full up on MC projects right now, so no. :) I just sometimes cruise the Launch Pad and find things that need correction, in order to make it easier for whichever MC does show up. ;)
