I have to be honest: I don't really understand tags. I've done them---maybe incorrectly---when I am the BC, but should I be doing more of it?

Also, I think I added the wrong date to a tag? How do I check and, if necessary, correct this?

Help, please. I don't want to cause a cataloger (sp?) any more trouble than he or she already faces.

What tags are you talking about?

The metadata (ID3 tags) aren't required in projects anymore, although they still pop up on the new project template.

I'm not aware of other tags. :hmm: What tags have dates on them?

Ohhhhhhhhh!

Are those the tags that Audacity asks for when I export to mp3?

(Man, I feel like a dope.)

Yes, those are the ID tags.

You can turn off that screen in preferences:
Edit/Preferences
Import/Export
Uncheck the box, Show Metadata Tags editor before export

(I keep it on, because I use Audacity for non-LV items that use metadata tags. Also, I find it a good second-thought opportunity: "Did I REALLY want to export this?") ;)
