One note for section 58:
1:17-1:20 This sentence was pasted in here, where it does not belong: "He is among the best read men of the race." It is present again later, in the correct spot, so just cut this instance of it, please.

Yes, much better! There is one strange spot at 13:30-13:32, where the bold words in the following sentence are abruptly and disconcertingly overlaid with static: "And thus the young Negro cannot help being a better man morally than his father." Just those few words, not the rest of the sentence, which is pretty jarring. I find that I get a better result when I re-record an entire sentence to paste in, rather than just a few words. If you'll address that spot, I can definitely mark this PL ok!Shasta wrote: ↑June 17th, 2019, 2:03 pm Here is the EDITED version of Section 054. I had, indeed, submitted the unedited version. I am sure I edited it before, but what became of it I have no idea.

68 PL ok! I quite liked this one. I thought the author was spot on, especially in his discussion of the emotional nature of African American Christianity. This is still true in probably every African American church and religious gathering I've attended.

This has probably the most interesting of the books chapters of which I have recorded, reflecting the "Negro" view of things at the turn into the 20th century. My grandfather was an infantryman in the 114th Regiment, New York Volunteers, but I am pretty sure he volunteered to preserve "The Union" and not out of a passion to free the slaves.
